Background:
“This isn’t the review that they wanted, but it is the one that they need.”
I won’t make this a long background.
This whiskey speaks for itself, we all know what it is.
I’ll save the long winded review with the history and all of the thrills and stories for the review on the 23yr old expression.
For now, just read below…
Warning: If you are one of those people who think that “Pappy” is the best thing since sliced bread, don’t read any further.
Feelings will be hurt.
Tears will be induced.
The Review
Age: 12yrs
ABV: 45.2% (90.4P)
Appearance: Copper, Medium-Heavy viscosity, moderate speed on the legs.
Nose: Cherries, orange marmalade, toasted tart, brown sugar, oats
Palate: much lighter on the palate than the appearance gives, not chewable, nor does it coat the gums, but it is very balanced on the tongue, pleasant dryness, not very complex, a bit empty in the middle.
Finish: medium length, marzipan, white chocolate. Two dimensions at best. I really had to search for those finish notes.
Rating: 7/10
Retail Price: ~$300 SPG: 4/10
Secondary Price: $600-$2,000 SPG: 2/10
