Background:
I recently did a Càirdeas review all the way from 2018.
…so it’s only right that I re-balance the timeline by reviewing the 2023 release as well.
The Review:
ABV: 52.3% (104.6p)
Age: NAS
Appearance: Golden ochre, Highly Viscous, Legs are literally as slow as molasses. This one is going to have a nice mouthfeel.
Nose: Woah. Pineapple, heather???, currant, and a bit of strawberry syrup, all accompanied by a quintessential Laphroaig style peat aroma. Phenomenal Nose.
Palate: Medium-full body, creamy, great mouthfeel, nice and thorough on the tongue. Easy to chew. Easy to love. Peat smoke feels like a warm campfire on a cold evening.
Finish: medium length… A little shorter than I would have liked… Coffee cake, vanilla, allspice, crème brûlée. Truly exquisite.
Comments: I was hoping for that sweet & peat duo to stick around on the palate for a few more moments after swallowing, but it certainly lasted for at least a couple of seconds; it really is hard to satisfy me here. I basically want it to never end.
Rating: 8.5/10
Retail Price: $90 – $110 SPG: 10/10
