Hello Darkness My Old Friend....
Well, well, well, Springbank....
I've come to talk with you again.
I will always remember the first sip of SB that I had. That day sent me on a never-ending hunt for more...
Springbank is what happens when you do everything 'wrong' in whisky production and it comes out just right....
At least that's what they say.
I happen to think that Springbank isn't a mistake or a compensation. It's reality.
It's what humans have always done to achieve their goals.
Think, Act, Assess, Correct, Repeat.
I think that Springbank is some of the best stuff on planet earth. Many will agree. Many will disagree.
Everyone will respect.

Tasting NotesSpringbank 5 Year Old 114 Proof
Nose
Vanilla custard, strawberry rhubarb, pound cake, apple strudels. Amazing how much you can pull from this.
Palate
Medium-Full body, nice oiliness. Rum cake, light brine. Lacking in complexity in comparison to older Springbank, but the body makes up for it.
Finish
Long, confectioners sugar, lots of cherry on the retronasal exhale, along with nice maltiness and dark chocolate. Wonderful.
Reviewer Comments
Believe it or not. I knew this would be a banger. I actually think that Springbank's core range peaks at around 15 years. That led me to believe that this would have to be a great dram in a declining market when tariffs and declining overall whiskey sales are forcing producers to self-correct their inventory. Springbank may not have the production capacity of Macallan to just put older stuff in their existing 12 year old or of Glenmo to increase the ages of their core range, but they can always just make a good younger whiskey. 10/10 must buy.
